The patron who we believe is named Morgan and wears a black jacket with red "security" patches on the sleeve was caught vaping indoors this afternoon.  He was asked to leave for the day, but his suspension is going to be 1 month due to the nature of the offense.  Spoke to Morgan and informed him he is not able to come back on our property until June 14.

See the attached photo of a patron named Cassie.  Police were called 2/18/22  and she was given a no trespass order due to her intoxication and verbal altercations with other patrons and staff.  She is part of the group from the shelter that come and hang out by the fireplace in the fiction department most of the day.  If she returns to the library please call 911.  If staff can please let me know when this group of patrons come back into the library so I can have a chat with them.

Regular patron Travis (person on the right in the attached photo) is not allowed on BCLS property for 1 month. He has not been told this yet, but he is usually in every day. He has been soliciting people for money the last few days and today a patron said he was saying some inappropriate and disturbing things to her. I told the security guard Michael if he sees him come in that he needs to be told he is not able to be back on our property until March 8. I am guessing he will need daily reminders on the fact that he is not allowed on our property as he is usually not in a state where he knows what is going on. Thank you for your help with this.

UPDATE3/22/25: Travis was smoking a joint and drinking alcohol on one of the benches in front of the library today. I let him know he's not allowed back on BCLS property for another month. He can come back on April 22. He was very drunk when I talked to him so he will probably need reminders.

UPDATE : 4/22/25 : Travis came back yesterday as his suspension was done. Terry let me know that he was again asking patrons for money and other items on our property. Travis will now be suspended for 3 months. He needs to be made aware of this, though. When he comes back in please get the security guard to help relay the message.

UPDATE : Travis came in just now. I let him know that he's suspended for another 3 months due to panhandling. He can come back July 23.

Patron Stephen Arnold is suspended for 1 year.  He is allowed back on BCLS property 10-14-2021.  I do not believe he goes to any other branches besides Wirt.  He has a long history of being suspended for various offenses over the years.  This is the result of stealing another patron's property from inside the library.  Wirt staff please let me know when he comes in next so I can talk to him.  His account is marked as blocked and a note on his record

Incident Description

Jessee is out of jail as of Friday and quickly came in then and was in for a period of time today. Police were called but did not make it here to trespass him in the 30 minutes he was on the 2nd floor. 911 said to call back when he comes back on our property. Do not approach him as he can be violent. He is the individual who pulled the fire alarm and said threatening things to staff. He cut his hair and beard down, but has tattoos on both arms and hand and has gauges in his ears. Photos are attached.

Nicholas Belluni is banned from BCLS.  If he goes on any BCLS property call the police immediately and tell them that he is trespassing.  They are very familiar with him and know the situation that occurred today here at Wirt.  He is usually wearing a skirt, has long hair and painted nails.  The gentleman in the first photo with him is one of his friends he is usually hanging out with and there may be a woman with him, too.

Antwan Burks is permanently banned from all BCLS locations due to threatening staff.  This is a photo from a previous incident.  If he attempts to come onto BCLS property inform him he is trespassing and the police will be called if he does not leave.

 

UPDATE (5/28/24) : Antwan Burks came into Wirt today .  He was reminded he was not allowed on our property - he said that wasn't his name, then proceeded to swear at, argue and video staff calling them racist.  He was banned April 2023 after repeated issues and then threatening staff.  If he comes onto any BCLS property please remind him he is trespassing and call the police if he does not leave or causes more issues.

The couple in the attached photo left their bags unattended.  When staff discovered them and looked inside tobacco and open alcohol bottles were discovered inside.  The couple asked about their items when they returned inside the library.  They were told the library has a strict no alcohol and tobacco policy and they would not be allowed back in the library for 30 days.  They denied they drink alcohol and were not happy about leaving due to their language.  If you see them back before April 28 please remind them they are not allowed on BCLS property.  Unfortunately we do not know their names, but most staff is familiar with them as they tend to be here every day/all day.

Jeremy, gentleman with the tear drop tattoo under his right eye, was asked to leave Friday, May 3, afternoon for sleeping in the eating area.  While I was talking to him he had a vape pen in his hand.  He was informed vape pens were not allowed in the library, he was then suspended until June 3.  Explained to him this meant all library branches and the grounds and if he did come back in we would add another month to his suspension.

arrested and charged with trespassing if he comes back

From 2021 : I have attached a better photo of the man who was suspended from BCLS last week (9/15) for loudly yelling profanities at Wirt staff and causing a disturbance. He came back today and Janice and I informed him that the police will be called if he comes back before his suspension is up. He exploded and loudly yelled at staff all the way out of the building. I told him he was now suspended until 2022 and was not to return this year.
If he returns we should call the police and we can issue him a trespass warning in their presence. He gave his name as Dennis, but it may not be his correct name.

On June 17, Alex Doyle a 23 year old male, came to Sage and attempted to verbally and physically assault an unsuspecting patron here tutoring. They did not know each other. The police were called and he was arrested. Alex is not allowed on any BCLS property. He has been given notice through the police via letter. It was also made known in the letter that if he does go on BCLS property he is trespassing and the police will be called.

Before coming to Sage that day he was at Wirt and suspended due to his behavior there.

The theft of the books is a Petty Theft which is a misdemeanor if we were to report you to the local police. As of this time we did give you a break by not calling the police and handling this unfortunate incident between the library and yourself.

While the books are new books and the repair job will be less than perfect - we decided to charge you $40.00 total ($20 processing fee and $20 damage fine).

In regards to your suspension from all the Bay County Libraries including the bookmobile. As March 18, 2016 gets closer - we will schedule to meet after that date to discuss the possibility of lifting the suspension.

You presently have 2 items out that need to be returned immediately. You can drop those off in our outside book drop.

A man named Dave Ervan passed out in the corner by the garbage cans outside the building.  He was intoxicated and when he stood up he fell and hit his head.  A patron witnessed this and called 911. An ambulance and the fire department came and looked him over - they are both very familiar with this person.  He refused to go to the hospital, but they said if he came back or fell again we need to call 911 and issue a trespass warrant and say he was previously here and seen by Medstar and the fire department on 9-30-22.

Jeremy Gilles was kicked out of the library today for 4 months.  He was on porn on his laptop.  It was brought to Staff's attention when he went outside to have a cigarette.  Two staff members saw the webpage up on his computer when walking by it.  When he came back in, he was asked to leave due to what was on his computer.  He said he would not leave and that I could call the police. Staff then called Jeanette Marks, Managing Librarian, to let her know, and she said I could call the police.  The State Police did show up and escorted Jeremy out of the library, but not before Jeremy told him he was not done downloading his game and that the police had to let him finish.  He told the officer several times that he had to let him finish first and would not listen to him either when asked to leave.  He was given 2 minutes to pack up his computer and leave or go to jail.  Jeremy did leave and after talking with Jeanette, he will be banned from all of our libraries for one year.

An unknown black male, 20s, slim, wearing a doo-rag, approached a staffer and asked her to go into the bathroom and have sex with him. Patrons were 10’ away. He is brazen and spoke graphically .

 

He is banned for life from all BCLS branches and property. He has not been told he is banned. If he comes into your branch, please tell him he is banned from all branches. If you know who he is, share his name with me.

Above are photos of 2 of the teens from this past Saturday.  They were in today and Linda spoke reminded them of their suspension and the timeframe.  Today they again used some extremely offensive language.  The younger girl who is suspended for a month is Kenzie Jankowiak and her older sister in the other photo is Paige Jankowiak.  The 3rd girl who was not with them today is possibly the oldest sister Shyann Davis.  Kenzie attends Washington Elementary and Paige is out of school according to the school resource officer I spoke to at Handy.  She is going to contact Paige's probation officer and suggested if they return to the library before their suspension is up to call 911 and state we have an unwanted.

Cody Moskal & Lydia Fanfarillo are not allowed on BCLS property.  They have a dog who they claim is a service animal, but has not behaved properly on several occasions while in the building.  Last night and today refused to leave the building and swore and yelled.  A photo is attached.

Update 6-18-24 : Lydia Fanfarillo was back at the library today and reminded of the previous situation below. She did push back a bit and was asked to leave.  If you see her on BCLS property please reminder her she is not allowed and call 911 if she becomes argumentative and does not leave.

Feb 11 - Intoxicated man in front vestibule asking everyone for cigarettes. I informed him he needed to leave. He was weaving and stumbling as he walked from center doors to east doors. I was afraid he’d fall or freeze. Police came they chatted with him and then escorted him off the property. We had had reports of an intoxicated man asking people for cigarettes in our parking lot and the cars at our drive up window last week.

2/15 He came in today and used a computer. He fell asleep on the keyboard and I woke him up and encouraged him to go take a break from the computer. He woke up for a little bit and then fell asleep again and Jacob woke him up and he left on his own volition. He appeared to be slightly inebriated (wobbly and sleepy). I followed him out and he started to panhandle in the hall and outside so I told him to leave the property.

2/26 Asked him to leave around 5:15 he was smoking in the library. Came back later and asked him to leave again. Came back again, asked him to leave and then called 911 he was pretty out of it and I didn't think he should be out in the cold. A woman came in and said he tried to get in her car. We told her the police had been called and offered to walk her out to the car or let her out the back door. Police came and are talking to him. They had me ask him to leave the building again and I told him he could come back Thursday.

This patron came in on Saturday, 12-18-21, and spoke to staff about when he could return to the buildings.  He was told he is not allowed back, but was given my information to talk more about it.  Just a heads up if he attempts to go to another building.

From 2018:

Micheal Milligan was eating at a computer in reference today.  He was informed that eating is not allowed in the library. He told the staff member to leave him alone.  Mark G was called to take over dealing with him.  Micheal is a regular patron that has had angry issues many times.  Micheal started yelling and swearing at Mark.  Mark asked him to leave for the day.  I was called to witness & support.  Micheal came down the stairs started yelling at me to get out of his face, called me a b**** and threatened me with the cords on his jacket he was whipping around.  At the entrance he threw a trash can down and it spilled out, he slammed a glass door against the wall a couple of times.  came back in and threatened to come back and mess us up, Mark called the police, Micheal walked around the building and threw a piece of concrete at the big glass window in Fiction.  Police arrived - if and when he returns or enters any BCLS branch or BBK do not approach him - just call 911 tell them it is not an emergency but do to a reported incident on 10/12/18 you are calling to have police come to branch he is at and staff member will Issue a Verbal No Trespassing Warning  - he is never to be allowed in a BCLS building or on the grounds.  The police explains that if he ever does return that he will be arrested.  Most likely he will only come to Wirt - I do not believe he has any transportation.  He will come in and try to apologize most likely expecting all to be forgiven.

Matina Newson is not allowed on BCLS property.  She has mental health issues and has threatened staff's lives at Wirt for actions that did not happen such as stealing her belongings/money.  Police are aware of the situation and spoke to her this afternoon.  If she comes into any of the branches, state there is a trespassing warrant out for Matina Newson and they need to come immediately due to her volatile nature.  She drives a 2015 dark green Chevy Silverado with license plate AMAN#1  Her hair is currently shorter and unkempt looking.  She has a very noticeable scar above her eye and on her cheek.  If she calls please don't engage in the conversation, but hang up.  At Wirt on the caller ID the number 269-274-0392 Nag T or 989-909-3188 (no name) will come up if it is her.

There was a young man who came in last night and went directly to the hand sanitizer station at the security gate and filled his McDonald's cup up with the liquid.  He proceeded to go upstairs and there is footage of him crouching by the drinking fountain putting another liquid from a bottle he had in his pants in the cup as well as add water and shake it up.  Staff witnessed him drinking from the cup that was filled with the sanitizer, which prompted him to be asked to leave.  He then proceeded to curse at the staff working at the circulation desk on his way out and kicking doors.  Attached are screenshots from security footage.  Several staff working last night did witness what he looked like.  His most prominent features were that he was tall, lanky, dark hair and an unkempt beard.  If he comes back in please let me know as he will be told about our strict no alcohol policy and that he will not be able to return for 1 month.

Paul Sian: He has short brown hair, is tall and was wearing a red baseball hat and grey sweatshirt. He became angry at his girlfriend and began swearing and then proceeded to punch the wall going into the reading room. The police were called and Paul is banned from BCLS. His card has been blocked with a note in his record. The police officer will notify him of his banishment. If he comes into any of the branches of BCLS it is trespassing and the police are to be called.

I spoke with a man who used the library card with the name of Emanuel Singleton - birthdate on record of 11/15/96 - Good Samaritan as address. He is 5'8" my guess and slight weight - hair in cornrows and he was wearing a do rag. baggy jeans and with another male with short dark hair and his last name maybe Glenn.

Emanuel had approached one of our staff members and said inappropriate things to her. I asked him if he had and he said yes and he was sorry and wouldn't do it again. His friend tried to tell me that Emanuel had a mental condition that caused him to do such things - I told him that was no excuse and Emanuel was waving his friend off. I told them they were to leave for the day and if they ever were to do anything like that again they would be banned for a month. They were polite and left the building.

Please be aware of where your co-workers are on the floor - if you know they are back in the stacks please take a walk to check up on them. Especially if you notice people wandering around that would not normally be in that area.

Recently when I was covering the children's desk - I observed a 20 something male browsing shelves near where a page was shelving. I when back to that area and kept watch of the guy. It turned out that the guy was getting something for himself but it had made me feel uncomfortable to have him back near our page.

One of the suspects that was involved stealing the purse from the Local History room on 1/21/17 was spotted in Wirt yesterday 3/16/17
Yesterday he was wearing a UofM down jacket - navy blue with maze yoke - same jacket he was wearing when he stole a wallet from the Y a week ago - they had him on surveillance. Detectives were called yesterday but suspect eluded them.
